behind the project jukeen (pronounced jh-uw-k-iy-n) is dejan cosic, an ambient/electronic music producer, currently based in maribor, slovenia. the start of the project could be in the year 2007, with his first mentionable public release elevated ep, although he was living a musical life for many years before. since then he collaborated with many different artists and organizations, his music was published on the balanced and on the waiting for winter compilation. on december 8th 2008 he released his debut album solastalgia.
influences for his music he finds in nature, time and space, everywhere all around him; longing to create an unique and timeless sound. with no limits of music genres, he always goes his own way in a particular era of his life, what is certainly audible in his musical style, that is a merge of atmosphere, slow ambient, chillout, to dark ambient, experimental, even techno. he often uses his field recorded material to add natural ambience to his tracks. sometimes this ambience can occupy a very morbid kind of form. he also likes to add melodic elements, like the ones of acoustic instruments, guitars, trumpets or vocals. he is mainly working alone, but is sometimes collaborating with other musicians, who are sharing the same musical idea – and this idea is the very main core of his musical creativity. at the end, music is not only for making one's stay in this place better, easier and more bearable, but to make it meaningful and reasonable. at the end, music should speak for itself |
